A symbol suggested seemingly by the representations of the Roman goddess Libertas, who held a cap in one hand. In England Britannia is sometimes represented as bearing such a cap, blue with a white border, on a spear. In France a red cap was chosen as the badge of the Jacobin Club.

- An inorganic water-soluble platinum complex. After undergoing hydrolysis, it reacts DNA produce both intra interstrand crosslinks. These crosslinks appear to impair replication and transcription of DNA. The cytotoxicity cisplatin correlates with cellular arrest in G2 phase cell cycle.
