A Dalmatian poet and scholar; born in Ragusa, Feb. 13, 1676; died there, Jan. 21, 1737. He was abbot of the Benedictine monastery on the island of Meleda, but was exiled for his part in a political dispute. The Pope interceded for him and had him restored to his cloisters. Of his poems, "The Sighs of the Penitent Magdalen" is the most deserving of mention. "Marunko i Pavica" is the humorous story of two Venetian youths, and "The Slav Psalter" is a hymnal.
