BRIGHTON, CLIMATE OF

The air of this fashionable watering-place, on the south coast of England, is dry, elastic, and bracing. Its climate appears to the greatest advantage in the autumn and early part of the winter; when it is somewhat milder and more steady than that of Hastings. Accordingly, it is adapted for all cases in which a dry and mild air at this season of the year proves beneficial. In the spring months, owing to the prevalence of, and its exposure to, north-east winds, the climate is cold, harsh, and exciting to the delicate. It is well adapted for convalescents, and for all who require a dry and bracing sea air.
