(1735-1826), became a Church-of-England minister in the churches of Hartford and Hebron, Conn., in 1762. He was suspected of being a Tory, and in 1774 was required to make a written declaration that he had not communicated with England concerning the controversies with, the colonies and would not do so. Soon afterward he fled to England. He wrote a satirical " History of Connecticut " of little historical value.
