Since 1869, residing in Cambridge, he has lectured on American history throughout the United States and in England. Among his works relating to the history of the United States are, " The Critical Period of American History," " The Beginnings of New England," " Civil Government in the United States," " The Discovery and Spanish Conquest of America," and " The American Revolution."
