Monoecia Monadelphia. (F.) Couleuvree, Vigne vierge, V. blanche, Navet du diable ou galant. The root is large and succulent, and has an acrid, bitter, and disagreeable taste. It is a drastic cathartic. Externally, it has been applied, in form of cataplasm, in gout. When repeatedly washed, a good starch is obtained from it. The active principle has been separated from it, and called Bry'onine.
