A Latin fabulist. He was a native of Macedonia, and was taken to Rome as a slave, but was freed by Augustus. Nearly the whole of the "AEsopian Fables of Phaedrus, Freedman of Augustus" are extant in the original poetic form; besides these, we have three different versions in Latin prose, made in the Middle Ages.
