A gum-resin, supposed to be obtained from the Ferula Persica. Ord. Umbelliferae. Sex. Syst. Pentandria Digynia. Its odour is fetid and alliaceous; taste pungent, bitterish, nauseous. It is in small, agglutinated masses of a yellow colour; tenacious; breaking with a horny fracture. It is a reputed antispasmodic and emmenagogue.
