Intussusceptio. Also, an operation, which consists in introducing one end of a divided intestine into the other, with the view of restoring the continuity of the intestinal canal. The name Invagination is, likewise, given to an operation for the radical cure of crural hernia, which consists in introducing into the crural canal a thick tent of charpie, the effect of which is, by compression and adhesive inflammation, to obliterate the neck of the hernial sac. - Nysten.
