A falling down of a part. Often used to signify falling of the womb, a sagging down of the uterus so that the os uteri presents at the orifice of the vagina or a part of the uterus or, it may be, the entire organ is outside the body. In the latter case the condition is spoken of as procidentia. See also procidentia and ptosis. [Lat.]
