A salt, formed by saturating morphia with sulphuric acid, evaporating, and crystallizing. Dose, the same as of the acetate. Muriate, and Citrate of Morphia, Morphiae citras, have likewise been used; but theey possess no advatages over the other salts. The sulphate and muriate are officinal in the Ph. U. S. The muriate- Morphiae Murias- is directed to be prepared as follows. Morphiae, in pulv., Aquae destillatae, Oss; Acid. muriat. q. s. Mix the morphia with the water; carefully drop in the acid, till the morphia is saturated and dissolved. Evaporate and crystallize. One-sixth of a grain is equal to a grain of opium.
