[Gr.] (Myth.) A Trojan priest who tried to dissuade his countrymen from admitting the wooden horse within the walls of Troy, and who was crushed by the folds of an enormous snake which destroyed his two sons with him. The story has gained celebrity from the ancient sculpture representing it, which is now in the Vatican.
