The intermediate lobe of the brain. A remarkable group of convolutions within the fissure of Sylvius. It is called, by Cruveilhier, Lobule of the Fissure of Sylvius, Lobule of the corpus striatum. The 'island' of Reil, with the substantia perforata, forms the base of the corpus striatum.
