Another name for Leptus autumnalis, the larva of a species of Trombidium that bores more or less completely into the skin, producing inflammatory wheals or papules with violent itching. It is oval in shape, brick-red in color, 1/3 to 1/2 mm. in length, and just visible to the naked eye.
