An American historical writer; born in Boston, April 11, 1831; died in Cannes, France, Dec. 5, 1889. He was educated as a lawyer; served in the Civil War as colonel of the 20th Massachusetts Infantry. He published "A Memoir of William F. Bartlett" (1879); "Antietam and Fredericksburg", being Vol. v. of "Campaigns of the Civil War" (1882).
