Accumulation in a hollow organ, of the matters secreted by it or carried into it. There is said to be Engonement des bronches, when the mucus accumulates in the bronchia; and Engouement des intestins, when the matters which ought to pass through the intestines are detained; as in a case of strangulated hernia.
