Various operations for the formation of artificial pupil are so termed. The first four signify the simple incision of the iris for the that purpose; the next three, excision of the iris, or incision with loss substance; the next four the simple separation or tearing asunder of the iris from the ciliary ligament; the next two such separation with excision of the part of the iris detached. When a portion of the iris is left stranglated in the wound, it is termed Iridencleisis, Iridencleismus, and Irodoloencleisis.
