(1733-1800?), soldier, came to the United States in 1777 and was made brigadier-general, and was present at Brandywine and Germantown. He was leader of the conspiracy against Washington, known as the "Conway Cabal," on account of which he was wounded in a duel with General John Cadwalader. Soon after he returned to France, and was made Governor of Pondicherry.
